Jan continues to work in the City, at least on those odd occasions when she isn't riding.

David has now completed a whole year working full-time as Chief Household Officer. The house has become noticeably scruffier, despite Leila's best efforts to keep it tidy.

Agatha prefers gardening, usually in someone else's garden.

At the end of January, David and Simon spent a couple of days in Valencia and then a week in the Marina Alta, that is to say the hills inland from Benidorm. They stayed with Sarah and Gary and went walking every day. Enjoy the slide shows of Valencia and the Marina Alta.

In late April, David and Jan spent two weeks in south-west France. They visited Patricia and Jean-Luc in Montpellier, then drove inland to some of their old haunts in the Gard, Aveyron and Lozère. The second week of the holiday they went riding in the Lot, then headed south to Rabastens in the Tarn before flying home. Enjoy the slide shows of the Gard, Aveyron and Lozère, the Lot and the Tarn.

In late June and early July, David and Rick spent a week in the Yorkshire Dales. They stayed first in Grassington, then moved north to Reeth where they were joined by Simon. Here is a slide show.

In late August, David spent a few days chez Gowenlock in the tranquillity of rural Cornwall.

In late September, David and Jan spent two weeks in north-east Spain. They visited Peter and Lucy at their second home in Martinet, just south of Andorra (slide show)...

...then stayed at Torla in Aragon and did some walking in the Ordesa national park (slide show)...

...then went riding in the Sierra de Guara (slide show).

David played lots of concerts over the summer, including one in Brighton where he was snapped by passing photographer Mike Coombes and posted on his photo-blog.

The last part of the year has been rather dominated by David's mother, who has been going through a bad patch. A quiet Christmas is in order, though borrowed dog Alfie will ensure it is not too quiet. No definite plans for next year as yet, though a trip to the Sierra de Gredos is on the cards.
