We flew from Gatwick to Porto and caught the train to Braga, where we stayed two nights.

During our stay in Braga, we visited Guimarães.

From Braga we took the bus to Viana do Castelo, where we stayed three nights.

During our stay in Viana, we visited Vila Praia de Âncora...

... and Ponte de Lima.

We took the train to Caminha...

... and on to Valença do Minho, where we stayed overnight.

We walked over Eiffel's excellent bridge to Tui in Galicia...

... and took the bus to A Guarda...

... and on to Baiona, where we stayed three nights.

From Baiona we visited the Illas Cíes, much admired by The Guardian.

We took the bus to Vigo, and a boat across to Cangas, and a bus to Bueu, where we stayed two nights.

From Bueu we visited the Illas Ons.

We took the bus to Pontevedra...

... and then to Santiago de Compostela, where we stayed two nights. Santiago de Compostela was the start and finish of our first trip to Spain together, back in 1986. There are a lot more pilgrims now.

We took the bus to Ferrol and on to Ortigueira, where we had stayed a total of five nights in 1986. This time we just stopped for lunch...

... and then took the FEVE train to O Barqueiro, which we had also visited briefly in 1986. This time we stayed overnight.

Lastly, we took the FEVE to Cudillero in Asturias, where we stayed for our final night. Then we took a taxi to Oviedo airport and returned home via Stansted and a huge traffic jam on the M25.

Here are some slides of the Minho...

... Galicia...

... and Asturias.
